Let’s explore NYC in augmented reality!

How can we learn more about our city through technology? This outdoor event will explore the use of augmented reality (AR), accessible through our smartphones, to view publicly available building information. For anyone interested in the intersection of virtual reality(VR)/AR technology and civic engagement, this event will provide an opportunity to dive in and offer your two cents. The dataset we’ll be using is NYC’s PLUTO (primary land use tax lot output) – an offering of more than 70 data points related to land use and geography at the tax lot level. Attendees will leave the event with a new way of looking at their city and will be asked to provide their feedback in a follow-up survey.
This event is organized by Matthew Ward, a Hunter College graduate student in geoinformatics studying ways to connect people to places through AR.
